The cheapest anonymous VPS in 2026 — honest price tiers

What $6, $10 and $15 a month actually buy you on an anonymous host, where cheap stops being cheap, and the workloads that fit each tier.

Price is the first thing buyers compare and the last thing that decides a fit. This guide walks the tiers as they actually exist on a crypto-native host — what the specs get you, what they are honestly good for, and where "cheap" quietly becomes "a bad time".

The tiers, honestly

TierSpecsReal priceHonestly good for
Wisp1 vCPU · 1 GB · 20 GB NVMe$6/moVPN endpoint, Tor relay, monitoring, small bots
Pulse2 vCPU · 2 GB · 40 GB NVMe$10/moSmall self-hosted services, static site + proxy
Umbra4 vCPU · 4 GB · 60 GB NVMe$15/moDocker stacks, personal mail, light LLM inference
Nocturne8 vCPU · 8 GB · 100 GB NVMe$25/moPruned blockchain nodes, heavier services

Wisp at $6 — the floor, and what fits

One vCPU and a gigabyte of RAM is genuinely small, and it is enough for real work: a WireGuard endpoint, a Tor relay, a lightweight scraper, a status page, a cron-driven bot. It is not enough for a blockchain node or anything memory-hungry. If your workload is a single lightweight service, Wisp is the honest cheapest option and there is no reason to overpay.

Pulse and Umbra — the working middle

At two to four gigabytes you can run a real self-hosted stack: Caddy in front of a couple of apps, a small Docker Compose project, your own mail relay, or a quantised language model for light inference. Umbra at $15 is the most common choice for a reason — it is the first tier where memory stops being the bottleneck for most homelab-style workloads.

Nocturne and up — when the workload is the point

Eight gigabytes is where nodes become realistic: a pruned Bitcoin or Monero node, a small Ethereum RPC, or a heavier build pipeline. Past that you are into dedicated territory. NoctisNode also offers dedicated servers from $89 with Ryzen and EPYC hardware if you need cores the VPS tiers cannot offer.

Note · Remember the billing model: prepaid balance, debited per cycle, never auto-renewed. There is no surprise recurring card charge to catch you.

Where cheap stops being cheap

The most common mistake is underbuying to save five dollars and then paying for it in downtime, OOM-killed processes, or a node that will not sync. Buy to the workload. A $6 box that keeps dying costs more than a $15 box that does not.

FAQ

QIs $6/month really unmetered bandwidth?

AYes. All VPS tiers include unmetered traffic, so a heavy download or a public mirror does not produce a bandwidth bill.

QDo I get IPv6?

AEvery VPS plan includes IPv4 plus IPv6. An IPv6-only entry tier is also available if you want to skip IPv4 entirely.

QCan I switch plans later?

AYes — change-plan is available from the panel, and the balance model debits per cycle, so upgrades are straightforward.
